Erika Kraemer-Mbula

Erika Kraemer-Mbula is a Professor of Economics at the University of Johannesburg. Her work focuses on innovation as a driver of sustainable development paths for African economies. She is the Chair holder of the DSI/NRF Trilateral Research Chair in Transformative Innovation, the 4IR & Sustainable Development, based at the University of Johannesburg and in partnership with The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) and the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex (SPRU).
She is a member of the Governing Council of the UN Technology Bank for LDCs, a member of the Advisory Board of UNU-MERIT, and the Centre for Science, Technology, and Innovation Indicators (CeSTII), as well as various Reference Groups at the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI) in South Africa, among other appointments. She is also a member of several research networks on innovation and development – such as President of Globelics, and Steering Committee member of Open AIR.
