Alastair Buchan

Alastair Buchan is Professor of Stroke Medicine at Oxford University and heads the Laboratory of Cerebral Ischaemia whose aim is to identify novel neuroprotective strategies that may be used for the treatment or prevention of an acute stroke.
Alastair Buchan is Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital and Professorial Fellow in Medicine at Corpus Christi College. He served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Head of Brexit Strategy) at the University of Oxford where he has been Head of the Medical Sciences Division and Dean of Medicine from 2008 to 2017. Alastair Buchan is a member of the Foundation Council of the Einstein Foundation.
As founding director of the Oxford in Berlin partnership he aims to strengthen the academic co-operation between the UK and Europe.
